Albawas fortunate when the lead in the film dropped out and producers decided to use her because she had the same color hair. After that role, Alba did two different commercials for JC Penny and Nintendo. Jessica landed her first television series role playing as Jessica in The Secret World of Alex Mack. Her character on the show was the snobbish adversary of Alex Mack, who was playeJessica Albad by Larisa Oleynik. Her role lasted until 1995, a year which also included a series role as Maya Graham in the remake of the 60s version of the show centered around a dolphin. Alba was lucky enough to film the first season of the show in Australia in a role that lasted until 1996. Later that year Alba joined the cast of Chicago Hope for an episode playing Maria.
